Updated: Sep 2

Homemade Garlic Butter
Homemade Garlic Butter

Tools:

  • Bowl

  • Knife, spoon or fork

  • Cutting board

  • Garlic press- optional but convenient

Ingredients:

  • Fresh garlic- 2 cloves.

  • 1/4 pound stick butter

  • Sea salt and fresh cracked black pepper to taste

Let's be real, this is a very simple recipe. Alls you need are the tools and ingredients above and the motive to mash it all together!

Method:

  • Soften 1/4 pound of butter- either leave it out until it reaches room temperature or if you are a microwave user, pop it in at 10 second intervals.

  • No garlic press? Press 2 cloves of garlic onto the cutting board to remove the skin. Mince the garlic cloves.

  • If you have a garlic press, use it.

  • Now place the pressed garlic and it's juices into the soft butter and mix well.

  • Add sea salt if your butter is unsalted. I like to add fresh cracked black pepper as well..

  • Once combined the butter is ready for use. Keep in mind after the flavours set it will become even more flavourful.

How about boosting flavour even more?

Our go-to's --> sprinkle your garlic butter with paprika, cayenne, italian seasoning or herbs de provence.

How to Use Your Garlic Butter:

Fresh bread + garlic butter + oven = garlic bread.

How about a movie and a bowl of popcorn?

Boiled potatoes + garlic butter + a dash of apple cider vinegar = delicious garlic mashed potatoes.

Sam's Hot Honey Butter

Tools:

  • Bowl

  • Knife, spoon or fork

  • Cutting board

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp unpasteurized honey

  • 1 tbsp hot sauce or hot pepper oil

  • 1/4 tsp of turmeric

  • 1/4 pound stick butter- our favourite is to use salted whey butter

  • Sea salt and fresh cracked black peppercorn

Method:

  • Soften 1/4 pound of butter

  • Add the honey, hot sauce and turmeric, and then mash it up well until the consistency is unison.

  • Add sea salt if your butter is unsalted.

  • Add fresh cracked black peppercorn to taste. This is a key ingredient to bring out both the flavour and the active anti-inflammatory properties in turmeric. A compound called piperine in black peppercorn helps with the absorption of a compound called curcumin in turmeric known to play an anti-inflammatory role in our body.

  • Once combined the butter is ready for use. Keep in mind, once the flavours set it will become even more flavourful.

A Meal Idea:

A filling protein-rich dinner after work for us might look like this ..

Fresh cheese bread + hot honey butter + homemade hummus + stew + pickled veg
