HOW TO WASH YOUR HAIR W/ A SOAP BAR

Writer's picture: Nature IS HealthNature IS Health

Using a natural soap bar to wash your hair is simple, but there are a few ideas to consider to prevent your hair from drying out.

Here are our tips:

  • If you have been using a shampoo and conditioner with silicones, wash your hair with the shampoo multiple times, to remove any buildup- and then do not use conditioner. Try a conditioner that does not contain silicones, that way there will not be any buildup.

  • Don't over wash. Only wash when there is actual oil on your scalp. Usually 1-2 times per week is enough.

  • On wash day, apply an oil to your roots to deeply moisturize your scalp. Our top recommendation is WILD SERUM because rosemary and nettle encourage hair growth. However, you can use any of your preferred oils, such as argan, jojoba, or sweet almond, which are all popular options!

  • Create a lather with your hands and warm water, concentrating on your scalp rather than the ends of your hair. The suds will clean the ends as they rinse down.

  • Have a pH balancer like NIH Toner Time, or a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse on your ends. Apple cider vinegar is a detangler and contains both enzymes and probiotic bacteria. If you use conditioner, apply to your ends only.

  • Towel dry your hair and then apply a serum or wax to your ends to prevent fly-away and style your hair. Our favourites are WILD SERUM and BASIC ALL USE. Our top seller though, is FLOWER SERUM!

  • Between washes, maintain moisturized ends. Keep your scalp oil-free for longer by misting with filtered water, and using a simple dry shampoo made with arrowroot powder. In the hot of summer try water rinsing your hair without washing.. swimming anyone?

Why choose to shampoo with a bar of soap?

Simplicity, save money, less waste in the landfill. For travellers, less to carry. Why not?
